Remain

Description

Renowned singer and 2025 Guggenheim Fellowship recipient Holland Andrews joins forces with her longtime collaborators, Methods Body (John Niekrasz and Luke Wyland), to create REMAIN, a powerful set of new compositions that speak to the heart of our time. Across these ten tracks, the trio creates a captivating sonic and emotional world by elevating Holland Andrews’ unique voice through live sound processing, percussion, and keyboards. Extending their sold-out 2024 performance at New York’s Issue Project Room, REMAIN reflects the complex effects that civilization has brought upon each of us. Andrews, Wyland, and Niekrasz have been collaborating for more than twelve years, and the depth of their friendship and musical rapport shines through on this album. The trio shows that improvisation at its highest level is a radical act of love and trust. REMAIN unfolds through a series of haunting ballads, subtle and intricate rhythms, ecstatic laments, and lingering soundscapes. The track “Stories of My Mother” showcases the talent of prolific musician and longtime collaborator Shahzad Ismaily on bass and synthesizers. REMAIN stands as a complex musical study of the bonds that unite us, of grief, catharsis, and joy.
