FAIRE CA (vinyl)

Description

The first album, '-1-', was released in 2010 on the Saïko label. The first concerts were performed by two people in a minimalist, folk, and lo-fi setup, with two guitars and two harmonized voices. In 2015, drummer Jérémie Conne joined the band. From then on, the songs gained more power and rhythmic richness, which allowed them to play on larger stages. Improvisation and repetition are an important part of their live performances. Songs that initially lasted 5 minutes on record can extend to a good twenty minutes, or even more, in concert. In 2016, the second album, 'Sinon,' was released on the Cheptel records label. All the lyrics were now in French, which was not the case before. After meeting and discussing with Cyril Yeterian (founder of the Bongo Joe label), Les Merils came to realize that Bongo Joe Records would be even more suitable for their music and the band's ethos. Things materialized in 2019, and the album 'Alors quoi' was released. The feedback was excellent, with significant and highly international press reviews (Greece, Australia, Israel, Romania, Spain, Germany, France, England, Poland, South and North America, etc.). This was very new and surprising, and it was clear that Bongo Joe had played a role. A great tour followed with unforgettable dates, such as the famous Le Guess Who? Festival in Utrecht, among others, and a repress of the vinyl version of 'Alors quoi' in 2022. In the summer of 2023, the 4th album was recorded in London. A significant turning point occurred as Les Merils enlisted Kwake Bass, a central figure in the Southeast London scene, collaborator of Kae Tempest, Tirzah, Coby Sey, Mica Levi, etc. After a change of drummer, now with Brussels-based David Costenaro (Secte, Tat2noisact), the 4th album 'Faire ça' is finally released.
