Mexican Institute of Sound (MIS) and the Meridian Brothers join forces on Ruido Tovar, a cross-border collaboration that reinvents tropical traditions connecting Mexico and Colombia. Drawing inspiration from icons like Rigo Tovar and the psychedelic era of Mexican cumbia, the project blends danzón, son, cha-cha-cha, and experimental electronic music to create a vibrant new language. The hybrid electronic tropicalism of MIS meets the avant-garde eccentricity of Meridian Brothers, giving birth to a sound that is both respectful of traditions and joyfully distorted. Together, Camilo Lara and Eblis Álvarez pay tribute to decades of musical exchanges while propelling tropical music into unexpected territories. American artist BECK is featured on two songs from the album.
