Three years after the first L'Avenir est devant, the Boaziz/Féjol duo, expanded with a drummer under the name Mendelson, serves up another helping with a more electric record, some of whose flashes of brilliance owe a debt to the mixing by one of the members of Diabologum and to the production by free electron guitarist Noël Akchoté, who brings to the group the colors of Daunik Lazro’s free saxophone, Joëlle Leandre’s bow and Charlie O’s organ, all devotees of offbeat music. Dark and disenchanted, Quelque Part cultivates the gloom of urban ballads that evoke the sadness of the suburbs as well as a few sublimated influences, including those of Diabologum and Miossec.
