Like his first album, which reached a new audience worldwide, "Into The Great Wide Yonder" is a truly remarkable album, offering as much depth and soul as its predecessor while presenting a distinctly new and different sound. Above all, the ten tracks demonstrate an artist ready to take risks, drawing inspiration from new horizons and exploring new sonic landscapes. Compared to the intimate electronic pieces of "The Last Resort," the ten tracks of the new album indeed exude a stranger, more mystical, and dramatic atmosphere, with great dynamics, distorted and catchy twang guitars, acoustic and electronic drums mixed with enchanting synthesizers. With "Into The Great Wide Yonder," Trentemøller not only explores new atmospheric and melancholic universes but also combines his sense of grand soundscapes with a solid melodic and tonal touch. Original chord progressions and a sense of melody are fundamental to him, which is also why most of the instruments are played by Trentemøller himself on this album. The Danish multi-instrumentalist and producer shows an unexpected talent for finding voices that match the atmosphere of his songs. In fact, all the vocal tracks are superb. Trentemøller chose to collaborate with English artist Fyfe Dangerfield from the British band Guillemots. This album is louder, with more going on. But discovering it is undoubtedly a rewarding experience, as the album will continue to unfold for a long time, and it can be confidently stated that Anders Trentemøller has succeeded in creating an essential album.
