After 4 years of absence, the phenomenon Melanie Martinez is back with 'Portals', a new album set to be released on March 31, 2023. For this new project, the American artist with 7M Tik Tok followers immerses us in a whole new whimsical, dystopian, and unique universe, symbolizing rebirth after "K-12". Melanie Martinez reappears with her third studio album and it is the first record from Martinez since she left behind her "Cry Baby" character. "The portals scream that death is life is death is life is death is life," she stated in a concerning press release. "A continuous loop. A circle." The album is set to contain 13 songs with a film to follow and will be available on CD and in a limited edition translucent vinyl injected with blood. 'Portals' marks the first full release from the 27-year-old singer, songwriter, and director, born in New York, in nearly four years after her second album with two billion streams, certified RIAA Gold, K-12, which made waves upon its release in September 2019, debuting at number 3 on the Billboard 200 - Martinez's highest ranking to date - with new debuts at number 1 on the alternative albums chart and number 1 on the soundtrack albums chart. The last music collection from the former Voice contestant was released in the fall of 2020 with the EP 'After School'. She closed the K-12 era with a global livestream 'Can't Wait Till I'm Out of K-12' which gave fans one last chance to experience an extraordinary K-12 concert production.
