This 2xCD edition includes the original Horror album, while the vinyl version offers a download card. Horrorble is a dub reinterpretation of the Mekons’ Horror (2025) album, created with Tony Maimone (from Pere Ubu). The tracks are deconstructed and then recomposed in an atmospheric dub style: stretched basslines, spaced-out rhythms, and transformed textures. The project favors space, echo, and subtraction, revealing new emotions hidden in the original album. This collaboration builds on a long shared history, dating back to tours as early as 1988 and joint work in the 1990s. The album also features a guest appearance by Benji Webbe on “Mudcrawlers.” Horrorble turns the songs into immersive soundscapes, heightening tension and depth. The original album addressed themes such as the climate crisis, economic violence, and political decline. Formed in Leeds in the late 1970s, the Mekons are an influential, committed DIY collective often associated with altcountry. Their approach blends experimental music and political engagement, affirming that the personal and the political are inseparable.
