The first album by Medicine Singers is a kaleidoscope of sounds that explodes genres, combining traditional pow-wow music with elements of psychedelic punk, spiritual jazz, and electronics in an astonishing blend. The result of years of collaboration between Yonatan Gat and the Native American pow-wow group Eastern Medicine Singers, who sing in the Eastern Algonquian language, the album features contributions from a star-studded cast, including Jaimie Branch, Laraaji, Ikue Mori, Thor Harris (Swans), Joe Rainey, and Ryan Olson (Gayngs). The leader of Medicine Singers, Daryl Black Eagle Jamieson, explains that he approaches everyone as a member of his family. The artists' responsibility is to show the world that life is not made of war and hate. Life is made of music, peace, and culture.
