The legendary Meat Puppets are releasing their new album "Lollipop" on Megaforce Records. The album, recorded in Austin, Texas, features the Kirkwood brothers, Cris and Curt, this time accompanied by drummer Shandon Sahm, son of the legendary Doug Sahm. The influential Meat Puppets started as a punk rock band, then established their own unique style mixing punk, country and psychedelic rock. The band gained exposure when the Kirkwood brothers participated in Nirvana's MTV Unplugged live performance as musicians in 1993. Their album released just after, "Too High to Die," sold 500,000 copies and became their biggest success. The band reformed in 2006. All bands, from Nirvana to Pavement to Stone Temple Pilots, cite The Meat Puppets as one of the most important American bands.
