While its tracks would eventually appear on ‘De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas’, ‘Life Eternal’ reveals how MAYHEM's debut album is an undeniable fundamental pillar of black metal.
These five raw mixes were recorded with original guitarist Øystein "Euronymous" Aarseth. Attila Csihar struggles with different vocal takes, especially on "Pagan Fears" which sounds even more vehement than its final version. And although it does not appear on the album, the absolutely insane drum part that opens "Funeral Fog" is quintessential Hellhammer.
‘Life Eternal’ is an unadulterated testimony to the craziest black metal band of all time.
