A cult 1989 recording, Henhouse Recordings captures the raw and legendary essence of Mayhem at the foundational era of Norwegian black metal. This CD+DVD edition features the band’s rehearsal sessions from 1988, with tracks from Deathcrush and early versions of songs later featured on De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas. It includes the iconic lineup with Dead on vocals (before his suicide in 1991), Euronymous on guitar, Necrobutcher on bass, and Hellhammer on drums. An unreleased track is also included, parts of which would later be reused by Emperor. The DVD contains rare footage of this historic rehearsal with additional versions not available on the CD. A raw and essential document of a key era in black metal. Cover artwork depicts the mythical location of the sessions, the Henhouse. Essential for any collector of the genre.
