Released in early 2019 on the Spanish label Elefant Records, 'Meadow Lane Park' was the first album by Avignon-native Christophe Vaillant under his new moniker, Le SuperHomard. Undeniably dreamlike and enchanting, praised by both French and international critics, and endorsed by Paul Weller (who invited the band to open his European tour), the musician laid the foundations for a new artistic direction. Originally from Brisbane, Maxwell Farrington left Australia in 2013, moved to the United Kingdom, then to France. He settled in Saint-Brieuc and participated in the formation of Dewaere, a noise quartet edged with 90s influences. Christophe and Maxwell met at a joint concert at La Boule Noire during the MaMA Festival in 2019. During his band's soundcheck, the Australian performed an a cappella song by American composer Burt Bacharach. The connection was immediate, and the two musicians discussed their shared passion for Lee Hazlewood, Scott Walker, and Frank Sinatra... so many legends, so much elegance. And it's this elegance, this orchestral pop, these subtle arrangements, and this velvety singing that can be found throughout these compositions. 'Once' is a collaborative album. Recording began in February 2020, concluding just before the new year. 'Once' is a journey, a journey both distant and close, where everyone will find refuge.
