After a critically acclaimed recording of the "Great Symphony," the Scottish Chamber Orchestra and its conductor Maxim Emelyanychev continue their exploration of Schubert's orchestral music, this time presenting Symphonies Nos. 5 & 8. While the delicate No. 5 is more inspired by Mozart — it was composed in 1816, the year Schubert discovered the chamber music of the composer — the "Unfinished" No. 8 is a bold sketch that departs from the previous symphonies. The program concludes with the Rondo in A major, D. 438. The SCO's first violin, Stephanie Gonley, takes the solo part.
