Description

After Clifford Brown's tragic death, Max Roach tried to reform his quintet, first with Kenny Dorham, then with Booker Little in 1958. The latter, an exceptional talent, joined Roach due to the similarities between his playing and Brown's. In 1958, Roach abandoned the piano and added Ray Draper on tuba, as shown on the album Deeds, Not Words.
