Since childhood, Matu Miranda has grown up in motion. Changing homes, cities, schools, or horizons has shaped his view of the world and nourished a body of work deeply influenced by notions of movement, transformation, and belonging. With APUAMA, his second album, the Brazilian singer, songwriter, and guitarist delivers his most personal work to date: a collection of songs that explore how each person builds their own idea of home through encounters, departures, and returns. Driven by sensitive writing and organic production, APUAMA navigates between contemporary MPB, tropical folk, popular poetry, and Brazilian acoustic influences. From one song to another, Matu sketches an intimate journey where saudade is never synonymous with immobility, but rather becomes a force that drives one to move forward, discover, and create connections. From the bright landscapes of "É Bom Voltar" to the existential questions of "O Que Será de Nós," and through the poetic manifesto that is "Apuama," the album tells the story of an artist learning to make every place he passes through a form of home. The album also features notable collaborations with two of the most unique voices in the new Brazilian scene. Singer and songwriter Josyara brings her sensitivity to "Céu Azulzin," while Chico Chico joins Matu on "Estética da Fome," a track inspired by significant cultural and social reflections in Brazil. These encounters extend the collective spirit that runs throughout the album and testify to Matu Miranda's ongoing dialogue with his artistic generation. The sound production was entrusted to Leo Marques, a producer, sound engineer, and musician recognized as one of the major figures in the Brazilian independent scene. Leo Marques notably won a Latin Grammy Award for his contribution to the album Sim Sim Sim by the group Bala Desejo, one of the most significant records in recent Brazilian music. His approach gives APUAMA a warm, vibrant, and timeless sound, allowing the songs to breathe and highlighting the richness of the acoustic arrangements. More than just a collection of songs, APUAMA is an inner travel diary. An album that speaks of movement, memory, nature, and transmission, reminding us that beyond borders, distances, and absences, there is always a place where one can feel at home.
