Depending on who you ask, Matthew Dear is a DJ, an outstanding producer, an experimental pop artist, the leader of a live music band… it's no wonder he maintains four identities or aliases: Audion, False, Jabberjaw, and Matthew Dear. He straddles multiple musical spectrums, flirting with each without being absorbed or labeled. Today, Dear returns with a new album, "Bunny." Although six years have passed since the release of the previous one, the musician has not been idle: he released an album under his Audion pseudonym and a mix for the DJ-Kicks collection, while performing DJ sets across the United States and managing the label Ghostly International, which he founded. As always, Dear's music contrasts with the coldness of the artists on his label thanks to his pop-infused electro and storytelling, perhaps a remnant of the sweet narrative folk his father played in the bars of Texas where he grew up.
