The musical interaction throughout the recording is deeply rewarding, and six of the seven tracks are single takes. Slocum describes the trio as follows: “In a way, this particular combination of musical personalities produced a very organic and, in many ways, unexpected collective energy. If a recording studio may seem a more sterile environment than the stage, I felt the opposite during this session. The combination of a new setting with these talented musicians, coupled with a great uncertainty about what would happen next, seemed to bring forth ideas buried deep within my musical unconscious, many of which were unsuspected, even impossible.” Slocum has been following his own path for many years, caring for nothing but cultivating, composing, and performing music that represents his aesthetic and artistic vision; music that resonates with his peers and inspires them; and music that satisfies music lovers eager to hear master musicians at their peak.
