An indie rock with frenetic punk impressionism, somewhere between Bikini Kill and The Breeders or The Slits! Bastard punk influenced by 90s hardcore and grunge, Mary Bell sounds at the crossroads of the heaviest grunge (think Melvins) and the Riot Grrrl scene. Mary Bell is a riot grrrl cry in the night, driving away its enemies and gathering its faithful around songs that are as angry as they are mystical. Delivering introspective and feminist lyrics that never stop expressing the injustices and violence we know all too well. Their music, their live shows, are the outlet for all our anger, questions and frustrations. They remind us that we are powerful and that we don’t give a damn, just in case we forget. Their name refers to the young British woman Mary Bell, who, in the 60s after being the victim of violence and abuse, was found guilty of the murder of 2 young boys. They are our dark side, lived or endured, expressed in music. No time for messing around, MARY BELL is all the energy of the riot grrrl movement and of our favorite punk/hardcore/grunge bands from the 80s and 90s, all in one and better.
