MARTYN, Dutch DJ now based in Washington, has managed to create a unique imprint throughout his journey. With 15 years of DJing, 6 years of production, and 4 years of artistic exploration within his label 3024, not to mention numerous collaborations with the leader of Brainfeeder, FLYING LOTUS, this exceptional DJ possesses a rare ability to bring together sounds that unite the audience. While his previous album focused on his sorrows and melancholy, "GhostPeople" addresses a theme that, according to him, is further from himself: that of "Ghost People," meaning artists who concentrate solely on the grooves or trends of the moment. He also mixes in references to individuals whose approach is the opposite, wanting above all to share the music they love, disregarding fleeting fashions. "Ghost People" is situated in this second perspective. Created in collaboration with EROSIE, visual and mural artist (formerly known as belonging to street art) and his partner at 3024, "Ghost People" is an album that draws from both the 2-step of West London, the dub roots of Croydon, the mechanical grooves of Detroit, the vibes of freedom from Berghain, and a Drum & Bass from another world. The record honors the spirit of wild experimentation characteristic of the Brainfeeder label, astonishes with its avant-gardism, and dazzles with its boldness.
