For my crimes

Description

The eighth album by Marissa Nadler, For My Crimes, is the sound of turmoil giving way to truth. The songs confront the dark realization that love may not be enough to keep two people together separated by distance and differing needs. By posing these difficult questions about her relationships, Nadler has established herself as a songwriter and vocalist. A powerful feminine energy defined the recording of these songs, thus enhancing their intimacy. Between Rothman's fluidity with gender and musical genres (as demonstrated on his album The Book of Law) and Raisin's list of successful collaborations with strong women (Angel Olsen, Kim Gordon, Charli XCX), Nadler was able to explore without judgment in the studio. With the exception of saxophonist Dana Colley (Morphine), everyone who played on this album are women of a certain caliber and pronounced style, many of whom have played with Nadler in the past. FOR THOSE WHO LIKE Emily Jane White, Alela Diane, Chelsea Wolfe, Mariee Sioux
