Danish percussionist MARILYN MAZUR, one of the most innovative musicians on the contemporary jazz scene, has been internationally known especially since her association with MILES DAVIS - which lasted almost five years and with whom she recorded the albums " Aura " and " Live Around The World ". She has also played with WAYNE SHORTER and GIL EVANS and for 14 years with JAN GARBAREK, among many other great musicians. Born in New York in 1955, she began with the piano before turning to drums in her late teens, moving from rock to theater music and jazz. Quickly drawn to world music, MAZUR has traveled all over the world, collecting percussion instruments from every country, which she plays both in a traditional way and in a completely creative and personal manner. " Elixir " is Marilyn's first album as a leader in over 10 years. Solo and - for about half the tracks - in duo with saxophonist JAN GARBAREK - she uses the sonic palette offered by her percussion instruments from around the world (including marimba, bells, gongs, all kinds of cymbals, vibraphone, water percussion, drums...) to perform a largely improvised program of charming and emotional themes that showcase an intensely poetic sound world.
