Let us note that his previous album a few years ago was a “CHOC JAZZMAN.” The great Romanian pianist (he has lived in Stockholm for years) MARIAN PETRESCU is considered the best disciple of OSCAR PETERSON at present. Here is his new album, only the second of his career under his own name (he is also the leader of the RESONANCE BIG BAND, which has just released an album in tribute to OSCAR PETERSON). The first was recorded a few years ago for the Norwegian label HOT CLUB; he is now on the superb American audiophile label RESONANCE. This album was recorded “live” at the New York club THE JAZZ STANDARD in 2009. He is accompanied by Swedish guitarist ANDREAS OBERG, bassist DAVID FINCK and drummer MARK McLEAN. On the program, 7 famous OSCAR PETERSON recordings, in a “live” version!
