MARIAH was a Japanese art pop group from the late 70s. UTAKATA NO HIBI is the 6th and final album by the group led by Yasuaki Shimizu. The prices of original copies, which are at least in very good condition, are hard to find and go up to 250 Euro/USD. The brand new reissue on Everland, unlike the original and the first vinyl reissue from 2015, is housed in a thick, artistically designed gatefold sleeve with OBI. A fusion of dreamy synth-pop and haunting new wave, in the vein of Tears For Fears or more adventurous music by David Bowie with a touch of Kraftwerk or even Brian Eno here and there, but all of this is sprinkled with atmospheres imbued with Japanese traditionalism.
