Following ‘All my People’, a magnetic debut EP released in 2019, Maria Somerville presents ‘Luster’, her first album on 4AD. After a childhood spent in the rural, mountainous countryside of Galway, the Irish musician relocated to Dublin, where her atmospheric and bucolic dream pop began to blossom. Throughout ‘Luster’, ambient electronic elements, ethereal guitars, poetic whispers and echoes all serve as references to her native Connemara, from the ancient paths of its plateaux to the subtle rhythms of its weather.
