Aguaenlaboca

Description

Maria Berasarte reminds us that singing is primarily a desire and that no identity is ever closed. Spanish, she has opened a new path by singing fado in Castilian. Born to a Galician mother, Maria Berasarte recognized herself in the Atlantic melancholy embodied by fado. She is a teenager and a conservatory student when she discovers this music, not knowing that it was fado, or even Portuguese. In her music, traditions, temperaments, and colors intersect - the ebb and flow of fado, the noble clarity of the lyrical voice. For her first album, Todas las horas son viejas, recorded in 2008, she works with two guitarists, José Luis Montón on flamenco guitar and José Peixoto, a former member of the Portuguese group Madredeus, on classical guitar and musical direction. Endorsed by the immense fado singer Carlos do Carmo, she earns the respect of Portuguese purists as well as the attention of lovers of strong and free music, throughout the Iberian Peninsula. The album Aguaenlaboca consists of eight tracks from her first album that was not released in France and eight new tracks, created between San Sebastián, Porto, and Paris.
