“The fairy.” This is the nickname given to her by her parents, which also gives its name to the opening track of Marguerite’s inaugural EP. Not quite an introductory record, as it was preceded by the refreshing tidal wave of “les filles, les meufs,” but a coming-of-age story that outlines the contours of an immediately endearing personality, whose artistic demanding nature shines through every note. Revealed on the show Star Academy, Marguerite delivers this first EP, “grandir,” with astonishing sincerity. A singer-songwriter, she draws from the many blackened pages of her notebooks, unravelling a narrative thread that allows for both intimate confession and universal appeal. “These are six little pieces of me,” Marguerite confides about an EP whose title refers as much to the transformation of flowers as to Aldebert’s beautiful phrase: “growing up is creating first times.”
