Nuit Noire

Description

Charismatic, dark, and ethereal, Marc Desse could easily be the child of the "jeunes gens modernes" of 1980s Paris. A unique musician in the landscape of new French pop, he first appeared on the radar from the United States with the single "Petite Anne," released on the BleedingGold Records label in 2011. The following year, he met American drummer David Graw (Isosceles Mountain, Dark Wave), from the Detroit punk scene, who gave the young songwriter's tracks a raw and urgent patina. The clear melodies of the potential hit "Video Club" won over critics, and Marc Desse, always with one foot on each side of the Atlantic, opened for R. Stevie Moore and Aline with his full band. His first album, "Nuit noire," is a nocturnal and urban journey that has fully digested its influences, combining French lyrics, electric sounds, and pop immediacy. Marc Desse has found a language and an imagination that are uniquely his own, both completely contemporary and uncompromising.
