Deciphiring The Message

Description

The virtuoso American drummer and producer Makaya McCraven presents his first album with the Blue Note label: 'Deciphiring The Message'. An opus made up of remixes and re-recordings from the catalog of the legendary New York label. On it, the artist establishes a connection between the past and the present, between tracks by Art Blakey, Horace Silver, Clifford Brown, Dexter Gordon... and his group made up of figures from the new American jazz generation including Jeff Parker, Joel Ross, Greg Ward. Through his many albums and mixtapes, the artist has established himself as one of the leading figures of this new jazz scene, while following in the footsteps of some of the most respected hip-hop producers and beatmakers such as J Dilla or Madlib. McCraven takes this art of sampling further by blending his own recordings with vintage samples.
