Mahom has been moving forward steadily since 2005! With hundreds of thousands of views and streams, hundreds of concerts across Europe, and a dozen vinyl releases, Antoine and Joris have carved out a golden niche for themselves in the French Dub scene, a position further solidified today by the release of "King Cat," their fifth album produced with the invaluable help of Panda Dub. It's a modern and electronic record that constantly flirts with the traditional codes of the genre. Sublimated by Irie Design's artwork, the twelve tracks of this new album mark the duo's powerful return. Simple, generous, demanding, and unifying, its message grows and gains depth, much like the Maneki-neko, the cat so dear to the duo since their album "The Skankin' Cat." Atop skyscrapers, in the heart of an urban and contemporary universe, "King Cat" speaks of the pessimistic destiny of a society in philosophical upheaval, but also of hope, life, and love. It draws us sometimes to the dark side of dub stepper, then to the ethereal and atmospheric, a subtle alchemy and true maturity enhanced by Panda Dub's artistic direction. Among the guests, the sublime voice of Luiza, met during the tour, delivers a magnificent cover of Françoise Hardy's "Le Temps de l'amour" and a bouncy stepper ("Snowball"). We also discover the renowned MC Green Cross (on the formidable "Digital Badness"), who has previously collaborated with Ondubground, Atili, and Biga Ranx. An ambient and militant manifesto, a major pillar in Mahom's edifice, "King Cat" celebrates all facets of Dub. Three small letters that deliver a universal message of love, freedom, and generosity. Virtues to cultivate diligently in the heart of a difficult and challenging daily life, ailing from its solitudes but above all rich in its differences.
