Sojourner (Box Set)

Description

For the first time on vinyl and after being out of print for a long time, Secretly Canadian is proud to present The Sojourner Box Set by Magnolia Electric Co. The four vinyl records that make up The Sojourner box set come from four distinct recording sessions that Magnolia Electric Co. undertook after the release of their first studio album, What Comes After The Blues. This is where the second album, Fading Trails, was born. But the four sessions, in their entirety, map out the celestial landscape of Magnolia Electric Co.: its constellations and shooting stars, its Americana titles and folk melodies. And, of course, the gravitational center that is the mournful and incomparable voice of Jason Molina. The session known as Nashville Moon was recorded by Steve Albini at his Electrical Audio studios in Chicago, Illinois. Sun Session was recorded at the legendary Sun Studios in Memphis, Tennessee. Black Ram was recorded by David Lowery at his Sound Of Music studios in Richmond, Virginia, and features numerous collaborators including Lowery, Rick Alverson, Andrew Bird, Molly Blackbird, Miguel Urbiztondo, and Alan Weatherhead. Shohola was recorded by Jason Molina alone, with a guitar and a microphone. With album covers drawn from the original illustrations of the box and the original poster included, this vinyl edition of The Sojourner box set is the most ambitious and solid release from Magnolia Electric Co. to date. 4 vinyl box set.
