Magik Markers are a noise rock band from Hartford, Connecticut. Originally consisting of Elisa Ambrogio, Pete Nolan, and Leah Quimby, the band started in a basement in 2001. After opening for Sonic Youth on their 2004 US tour, the band gained notoriety. Their first album, *I Trust My Guitar, Etc.* (released on vinyl only), was issued in 2005 on Thurston Moore's Ecstatic Peace label. In 2006, they released *A Panegyric to The Things I Don't Understand* on Gulcher Records, their first proper record. Also in 2006, the band recorded a session for Southern Records, which was released as *The Voldoror Dance*. Leah Quimby left the band in May 2006. Various people replaced her before Magik Markers eventually became a duo composed of original members Pete and Elisa. In September 2007, the band released *Boss*, which was produced by Lee Ranaldo. It was the most structured recording Magik Markers had released to date. Followed shortly by *For Sada Jane* and *Road Pussy*, the band attempted to capture the sound of studio practices, in contrast to the chaotic performances of their live appearances. Magik Markers have since toured in the US and Europe. Since their inception, Peter Nolan has continuously produced limited edition records and instant documents, all with handmade artwork, intended for a small audience. Elisa Ambrogio recently joined Six Organs of Admittance on one US and two European tours. Peter Nolan and his band Spectre Folk played their first UK tour, with Julie Tomlinson and John Truscinski. Elisa Ambrogio also recorded a record and played with Dirty Stealer (with members of Comets on Fire) and contributed to the writing of various projects.
