On the quick follow-up to their 2024 EP, Magic Fig from San Francisco takes their sound model and adds a bit more of everything: color and creativity, scope and sonic exploration. Comprising ten exuberant new songs, Valerian Tea sees the psych-pop supergroup (with members from The Umbrellas, Healing Potpourri, Almond Joy, Whitney's Playland, and Blades of Joy) diving even deeper into the lush, layered sound that defined last year's breakthrough, opening up a whole new realm to explore. The band remains the same, poised for the release of the aforementioned self-titled debut album. Founding members Matt Ferrara (bass), Muzzy Moskowitz (guitar), and Jon Chaney (keyboards, piano) work alongside Inna Showalter (vocals, mellotron) and Taylor Giffin (drums and percussion); all coming from various musical projects in the ever-dynamic San Francisco scene.
