In the summer of 2015, Mac DeMarco released Some Other Ones - a collection of original instrumental recordings that he considers his "barbecue soundtrack" - as a free digital download exclusively on Bandcamp. The album was recorded in just five days at his home in Queens, about a year after the massive success of his third album, Salad Days, and a few weeks before the release of the mini-LP Another One. Originally released for a barbecue hosted by DeMarco to promote Another One and raise donations for the food bank, Some Other Ones quickly gained cult status and is now regarded by his fans as a centerpiece of his catalog. Today, nearly 10 years later, and following the success of his recent instrumental album Five Easy Hot Dogs, Some Other Ones is finally receiving a proper release.
