"Over the past ten years, countless people, moved and serious, have told me that their favorite record is Something Else. I love that, and I nod in amused reverence here. The me of 2012-2013 was drowning in pain and insecurity, and my own press was frustrated that no one could see me for who I really was, what I had truly been through, and how hard it was to be me. I was walled in by fear and the worry of never being good enough. I struggled with my voice after a debilitating virus and a six-week tour. I had rented a small room in the Grandview neighborhood of Columbus and I would plug into my battered acoustic guitar with a tape recorder.
