Lucy Khanyan is an Armenian-American pianist and composer who divides her time between her native Yerevan and Los Angeles, where she is an active musician studying musicology. She explores new approaches to music creation, blending elements of folk music with avant-garde techniques. Her compositions may feature unconventional instrumentation, complex harmonies, and unusual structures that challenge traditional ideas of what folk music can be. Recorded in Paris, "Armed With Love" brings together three singular artistic voices: Lucy Khanyan, French double bassist and composer Gabriel Pierre, and Brazilian drummer, percussionist, and composer Isaias Alves — each an accomplished musician whose cultural roots, creative vision, and musical depth shape the album's unique sound. Built around original avant-garde folk-jazz compositions, composed and arranged by Lucy Khanyan, the album creates a rich musical dialogue where diverse traditions, improvisational freedom, and contemporary expression merge into a bold and deeply personal musical language.
