Hugo

Description

CD release initially scheduled for 07/10 Loyle Carner’s latest album, “hugo,” is about building hope in a context of pain. Pain within families, within ourselves, and in the world at large. Over varied instrumentation, the South London rapper writes a personal and political manifesto. With the urgency of navigating the turmoil of young fatherhood, mixed-race identity, and the fallout from a summer of international protests against racial injustice, Loyle Carner engages in a process of self-examination of his place in the world — as a mixed-race Black man, artist, father, son. The album’s soundscape is shaped by the use of live instruments and production from the renowned producer Kwes.
