The duo choucou of Kit Records, Love Is Yes (Dax Niesten and Sander van der Toorn), returns with an explosive album, a worthy successor to their first eponymous opus already acclaimed. While the serene motorik guitar, soaring synths, and ethereal voices of the Dutch duo are still present, "Ghost and More Ghosts" sees them exploring a parallel universe, taking along gamelan metallophones, organs, and vocoders through a fermented portal, while they completely disintegrate. A round of melancholic magic occurs when these atoms regroup to mock melodic techno ("Ghost Four"), disembodied R'n'B ("Ghost Six"), and distilled pop ("Ghost Three"). These are wonderful disorienting sound paintings: spotted and filiform sound masses that shift the perspective of familiar shapes into flamboyant and unprecedented landscapes. Recommended if you like Don Hertzfeldt, sodium vapor lamps, and typos.
