Description

Originally from Paris and splitting his time between Switzerland and France since 2012, Louis Billette has become an essential musician in the Swiss jazz scene in just a few years. With a background in classical and jazz music, and rich musical experiences ranging from Hip-Hop to modern Jazz, Louis Billette is a creative musician mastering a wide musical palette. As the leader of the Louis Billette Quintet (Swiss Diagonales jazz 2019), he is also a member of the collective OGGY & the Phonics (1st prize JazzContreBand), Gabriel Zufferey Quartet, Manu Hagmann's CHOICE, and Lost in Swing. Joe Henderson and Stan Getz, as well as Dexter Gordon, John Coltrane, and Sonny Rollins, are his references. Surrounded by the best musicians of his generation, they all share the belief that jazz should bring joy to the people. His expansionist project aims to reach a wide audience that is waiting for the return of jubilant, comforting, and generous jazz that doesn't take itself too seriously.
