Selvutsletter

Description

After collaborating for over ten years, Jenny Hval and Håvard Volden released their first album under the name Lost Girls in 2021: Menneskekollektivet. The record received rave reviews. The duo is now releasing their second album, Selvutsletter. Like its predecessor, the album title is an invented Norwegian word, a word that doesn't exist, but almost. The group translates Selvutsletter as someone trying to erase themselves, to disappear. Working in tandem, with Håvard Volden creating wild rhythms and guitar chords and Jenny Hval restructuring the parts, creating melodies, words, and adding other sounds, they began to venture into unknown territory of shorter, more concise, and more melodic songs than their first album Menneskekollektivet. While Menneskekollektivet explored club rhythms and experimented with extended structures, Selvutsletter is dedicated to the concept of disappearing within an experience. It combines the intuition and late-night feel of Lost Girls' previous works with experimental rock music. The result is more adventurous than nostalgic: a fiery and bilingual whirlwind of colors, words, vegetation, and electricity.
