Pericos & Friends is the result of nearly two years of hard work, during which we revisited several of our favorite songs and recreated them, along with some hits by Bob Marley and other legendary reggae artists. We treated ourselves and invited artists we revere and great friends to come play with us, and each of them added their own magic to our music. Pericos & Friends is an album created with the help of over 50 musicians, recorded in 9 countries, and featuring songs in multiple languages, but a love for reggae and music in general has blended the entire project. We, Los Pericos, celebrated 25 years of music making in this way. With such a strong statement, all we can do is examine the result; Pericos & Friends is an album full of life, magic, and joy, the culmination of a long career that has not only made reggae popular throughout Latin America but has also provided an essential songbook known and loved by all. Like the best parties, Pericos & Friends is an album full of fun from start to finish. Waiting, Mucha Experiencia, Pupilas Lejanas, Natural Mystic, Runaway, Complicado, and Aturdido are all there! Los Pericos celebrated their 25th anniversary in 2010, and they did it in style. They even brought in special guests like Ali Campbell (from UB40), the pioneer Gregory Isaacs, the immortal Wailers, the founding father Toots Hibbert (from Toots and the Maytals), the talented Mykal Rose from Black Uhuru, and contemporary legends like the Skatalites. They gathered with Latin stars like Cidade Negra, Guillermo Boneto from Los Cafres, Juan Manuel Casán from the Spanish group Seguridad Social, as well as Uruguayans No Te Va Gustar and Chilean members of Gondwana. Today, for the very first time, Pericos & Friends is available on vinyl. An essential addition to your reggae collection.
