Lloyd Cole & The Commotions – Cole, Blair Cowan, Lawrence Donegan, Neil Clark, and Stephen Irvine – were formed in Glasgow in 1982, where the singer-songwriter from Buxton, Cole, was studying philosophy and English at the University of Glasgow.
