The Liv Andrea Hauge trio is releasing their third album, Døgnville, on the Norwegian label Hubro. This record explores the feeling of being "døgnvill," a Norwegian term for being out of sync with time and reality, like experiencing jet lag or insomnia. The music inhabits this liminal space between structure and freedom, consciousness and dreams. Half of the compositions were written while pianist and composer Liv Andrea Hauge was bedridden with a high fever, in a semi-lucid, dreamlike state. The other half was created before the trio's European tour in autumn 2024. The result is a fusion of new inspirations and songs shaped and refined by live performance, a record rooted in both spontaneity and maturation. Since its formation in 2022, the Liv Andrea Hauge trio (Liv Andrea Hauge on piano, Georgia Wartel Collins on bass, and August Glännestrand on drums) has become a key voice in modern acoustic jazz. With extensive touring in Norway and internationally, and two previous albums, the group has developed a strong and intuitive musical chemistry. Døgnville reflects this chemistry with a more serious and contemplative sound than their previous albums, echoing the uncertainty and introspection of our times.
