Based in Copenhagen, the trio Little North has quickly established itself as a singular voice in European jazz, shaped by a Nordic minimalism and a keen sense of melodic and cinematic storytelling. With compositions written by each of its members, the group cultivates a dynamic interaction at the heart of its sonic identity. With Crossing Currents, they take a new step. Recorded in New York in November 2023, the album blends Nordic aesthetics with the vibrant energy of the New York scene. Alongside the trio, vibraphonist Joel Ross, whose harmonic richness and rhythmic finesse bring a unique depth, and saxophonist Hannes Bennich, with an expressive and decidedly contemporary voice, infuse an international dimension and a broader scope. From this encounter is born a fluid and captivating musical dialogue, where Copenhagen, Malmö, and New York converge into a common language, both open and expressive.
