Yves Jarvis and Romy Lightman are a singular and creative artistic couple. Over the last decade, Jarvis's ever-expanding compositions have earned international critical acclaim, while Lightman's twin-sister-led band Tasseomancy has captivated listeners since the late 2000s. The Lightman Jarvis Ecstatic Band marks the duo's first collaboration, propelling both musicians out of their comfort zones into enchanting territories of lyrical folk and impressionistic rock. *Banned* was recorded in the tranquil environment of the Tree Museum, an open-air art gallery in rural Ontario, Canada, which has hosted contemporary sculptors in residence for the past 20 years. Both artists credit the 200 acres of natural spaces mingling with human creations as the impetus for their unfettered process. Recorded in two weeks in a stream of improvisation, the album features Lightman on synthesizer and Jarvis on drums and guitar, their voices blending to form an electrified pastoral tapestry.
