"La Llorona" (meaning "The Weeping Woman" in English) is the debut album by singer Lhasa, released on April 2, 1998. This work was written in collaboration with her guitarist Yves Desrosiers, who also produced it. It reflects Lhasa's need to express and explore her Mexican roots, a country she then expressed nostalgia for. This album achieved great public success with over 400,000 copies sold in France and Canada. Furthermore, it reached the 25th position in the French charts upon its release and remained charted for a total of 62 weeks. All the drawings and the famous album cover are works by Lhasa de Sela.
