Black vinyl, 11 tracks; insert with photos and lyrics - Hear the heroic saga of CADAVRES, a trajectory similar to that of reference bands like U.K. SUBS or BUZZCOCKS. Notable figures of Parisian punk rock, LES CADAVRES seem immortal: they played at the farewell concerts of LUCRATE MILK (1984) and BERURIER NOIR (1989). Led by Vérole, the illustrious surviving singer from the original lineup (1979-1984), the band currently consists of Manevy (guitar), Jérome (bass), Bertrand (drums), and Cyril (2nd guitar). Several hundred concerts (France, Germany, Switzerland, Belgium) and numerous contributions to compilations during the alternative rock era have earned the band their stripes, inheriting a dense and substantial discography, in a well-defined style: mid-tempo rhythms, melodic and incisive riffs, classic 77 pop-punk choruses, and above all, a fierce and raspy French vocal delivery, layered over morbid and grating lyrics, oscillating between gothic nihilism, radical claims, and caustic humor. Numerous parodies of great classics ("whistling on the hill," "friends first," "there's joy") also happily illustrate their art of private jokes and second-degree humor.
