After a first solo album released in 2018 titled Di Caprio, Leopardo surrounds themselves with musicians from the Swiss alternative scene for a second album and a slew of concerts. In 2019, Is It An Easy Life? is released, an electric manifesto with love songs that embody a romanticism and optimism that is almost naive. This modern fresco, half-pop half-punk, both radiant and disillusioned, took them on a tour across Europe. With this new album Malcantone (the canton of evil), Leopardo explores the darker realms of life and love, embodied in a nonchalant crooner's voice, anxious about approaching thirty. While drawing inspiration from pessimistic philosophers, Malcantone pays tribute to Robert Walser and his love for misfortune and mountains, infusing the religious sounds of a Velvet Underground with a country and post-punk aesthetic. It also features influences from Country Teasers and Michael Hurley, who frequented the shared evenings at Spazio Morel (Lugano), where the band members would stay up late.
