Léonore Boulanger studied theater, experimental jazz improvisation, and Persian music in Paris. Her music reflects her great interest in African folk and composers such as George Crumb, Teiji Ito, Harry Partch, and singer Meredith Monk.
For their fifth album, "Un lièvre était un très cher baiser," Léonore Boulanger & Jean-Daniel Botta with percussionist Laurent Sériès composed and decomposed a set of fragments from the raw art poetry of Ernst Herbeck from the Gugging center in Austria. Small formats for movement, sung in German like in a Krautrock kindergarten. Music boxes, medieval r'n'b, motets, and futuristic madrigals arranged like hopscotch, Byzantine mathematics.
