LENA DELUXE
Album produced, recorded and mixed by Henry Hirsch in New York.
Discovered at Printemps de Bourges 2011, Lena Deluxe has already made a name for herself nationally by participating in prestigious festivals in France and Europe (Les Transmusicales de Rennes, Les femmes s'en mêlent, Reeperbahn Festival...).
It was during a studio recording as a musician for Brisa Roché that she met the man who would become the producer of her album: Henry Hirsch.
Henry, enchanted by Lena's demos, invited her to record her album in his New York studio.
Specializing in the sixties sound of Motown and The Beatles, Henry's studio, which is uniquely built in a church, is entirely analog.
Coming alone to play all the instruments at the request of her now mentor and New York friend, Lena fell seriously ill during the recording, which turned into an inner struggle that the artist's tenacity would ultimately overcome.
It is from this epic and intense adventure that "Mirror For Heroes" was born.
The result is an album that is both luminous and profound, with the soft, warm and mystical sound of the 60s/70s, where echoes from another world sometimes resonate; Lena's voice is at once melancholic, sensual and haunting. We discover captivating melodies, Bowie-esque flights, riffs that take us back to Jefferson Airplane in San Francisco or to the darkness of New York's cellars and the Velvet Underground.
From intimate songs like 'Rainbow' and 'D-Day', to the nostalgic pop of 'Reeperbahn', through the stony soul of 'Kill The King' and the psychedelic meanderings of 'Ink', Lena Deluxe delivers a sumptuous and captivating album.
