Loving each other means believing that we will always end up finding each other. Even in the midst of chaos, even when everything seems to be drifting away. It's moving forward, not quite knowing where it leads us, but with that strange certainty that as long as we stay together, it will hold up.
L.E.J, that's it. A friendship that began long before the music, before the spotlight, before the tours. Lucie, Elisa, and Juliette, born a few months apart, blossomed on the same street in Saint-Denis, cradled by the same melodies. One at the Conservatory, the other two at the Maîtrise de Radio France, all three driven by the same urgency to sing, to play, and to create.
In 2013, almost by chance, they entered a competition. They won. This was followed by a few cover videos, and in 2014 came the idea of the "summer medley." In 2015, they posted their first mashup, just for fun. It exploded, and everything changed. Loving each other was learning to weather the storm. The sudden success, the blinding light, the labels that are stuck on you before you even have time to know who you are. It was fighting to maintain control, to exist beyond a mere buzz. So, they created. While waiting for the album (2015), it confirmed their originality and their first tour of over 100 dates was rewarded with a Victoire de la Musique (Revelation stage) in 2017. Poupées Russes (2018) revealed their first compositions and Pas Peur (2020) further affirmed their identity. And then a final album of covers of French songs, Volume II (2022), before taking the plunge.
Their new album, Loving each other is a hassle, marks a new stage. More personal, more raw. An entirely self-produced album, shaped by three hands, without compromise. With Christopher Colesse aka C.Cole (Waxx's accomplice in Fanzine) as the producer, they found the perfect balance: a hybrid sound, between r'n'b, French chanson, and French touch, where enchanting harmonies meet decidedly modern sounds. And who better than close friends to refine it all? With Chilla and Nemir, they put the finishing touches on an album that could not resemble them more.
Loving each other means understanding that growing up does not mean losing oneself. That even if each has their own chaos, their way of seeing the world, in the end, it's the trio that carries you. And that before loving others, you must also learn to love yourself. Accepting your contradictions, your flaws, your moments of doubt and greatness. Because loving oneself is perhaps even more of a hassle.
Loving each other means accepting that nothing is simple. That love and friendship are sometimes a battlefield, a fragile balancing act, a mix of sorrows and laughter that resonate louder than anything else. This is what L.E.J sings today. Love without filters. Imperfect friendship. The hassles of everyday life. And this constant struggle to accept ourselves as we are.
Loving each other is exposing oneself despite the risk that everything could stop tomorrow. It's taking the gamble of an unvarnished record. A vulnerable breath. Loving each other is daring to confess.
